Terms of Service

The rules for using First House Planner, and what you can expect from us.

Last updated September 2026

1. Agreement to these terms

These terms and conditions govern your use of First House Planner (the "app"), which is operated by AppsByJamie ("we", "us", "our").

By creating an account or using the app you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the app.

2. About First House Planner

First House Planner is a planning and budgeting tool for people buying their first home in the UK. It lets you estimate what you can afford, calculate Stamp Duty, model mortgage overpayments, budget for house items, and track your fees, monthly spending, documents, snagging list and moving tasks in one place.

3. This is not financial, legal or tax advice

This is an important point. First House Planner provides estimates and general information only. It is not financial, mortgage, legal or tax advice, and it is not a substitute for advice from a qualified professional.

  • Every calculation is based on the figures you enter and on general rules, rates and assumptions that can change.
  • Stamp Duty, tax, mortgage, interest and overpayment calculations are estimates and may not reflect your exact circumstances.
  • Always confirm figures with a qualified mortgage adviser, solicitor or accountant before making a decision or committing to anything.
  • We are not a lender, broker, estate agent or adviser. We do not arrange, recommend or endorse any financial product.

4. Your account

  • You must be 18 or over to create an account and use the app.
  • The information you give us when registering must be accurate and kept up to date.
  • You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for everything that happens on your account.
  • Your account is for you. You must not share your login details or use someone else's account.
  • We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or that we reasonably believe is being used fraudulently or unlawfully.

5. Subscriptions, billing and cancellation

  • The Affordability Calculator and Helpful Links are free to use. Premium features are available for £2.99 per month or £30 per year.
  • Payments are handled securely by Stripe. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel.
  • You can cancel at any time in Account Settings. Your Premium access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for, and then stops. No further payments are taken.
  • New accounts may be given a short free Premium trial. It ends automatically and no payment is taken unless you choose to subscribe.
  • We may change our prices in the future. We will give you reasonable notice, and any change will never affect a period you have already paid for.
  • If you believe you have been charged in error, contact us and we will look into it and refund where appropriate.

Businesses. If you are subscribing or listing on behalf of a business, you confirm you have authority to do so and that the business agrees to these terms.

6. Free and Premium features

We may add, change or remove features at any time as the app develops. Where a change significantly reduces a paid feature, we will give you reasonable notice and, where appropriate, a refund of the unused part of your subscription.

7. Acceptable use

When using the app you must not:

  • Break any law or use the app for anything unlawful, misleading or fraudulent.
  • Upload content that is unlawful, offensive, or that you do not have the right to use.
  • Try to access another user's account or data, or interfere with the security of the app.
  • Copy, scrape, resell or commercially exploit the app or its content.
  • Attempt to overload, damage or reverse engineer the app or its underlying services.
  • Use the app to send spam or to mislead anyone about the estimates it produces.

8. Your content

You keep ownership of the information, figures and files you add to the app. You give us permission to store and process that content only so that we can provide the app to you, as described in our Privacy Policy.

You are responsible for making sure you have the right to upload anything you add, and for keeping your own copies of important documents. The app is a convenience store, not an official record.

9. Partner offers and third-party links

Members can access discounts, offers and promo codes from partner businesses, and the app may link to third-party websites.

Those offers and websites are run by the businesses themselves, not by us. We do not control them and we are not responsible for their products, prices, availability, quality or how they handle your information. Any contract you enter into for a partner offer is between you and that business. Please check the terms of an offer before relying on it.

10. Our intellectual property

The app, including its design, text, graphics, logos and code, belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by copyright and other rights. You may use the app for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, modify, distribute or resell any part of it without our written permission.

11. Availability and changes to the service

We aim to keep the app available at all times, but we cannot guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error free. We may need to suspend it for maintenance, updates, or for reasons outside our control. We may also change, suspend or withdraw parts of the app, including free features, at any time.

12. Limitation of our liability

The app is provided on an "as is" basis and you use it at your own risk. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from:

  • decisions you make based on the estimates or information in the app;
  • errors, omissions or inaccuracies in calculations or content;
  • loss of, or damage to, data you have entered;
  • the app being unavailable, interrupted or affected by a fault;
  • the products, services or conduct of any partner business or third-party website.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are not affected by these terms.

13. Ending your agreement

You can delete your account at any time in Account Settings. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, or if we withdraw the app. If we end your access and you have paid for Premium, we will refund the unused part of your subscription where appropriate.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you may also be able to bring a claim in your local courts.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will tell you about significant changes in the app. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last updated.

16. Contact

If you have any questions about these terms, please get in touch through our Contact page and choose "Contact" as your topic.
